Tailor Shop Adventure

A few days ago, my teammate and I had a fun adventure going to visit some of our Deaf friends who own their own tailor shop.
We knew that they usually close their shop for their lunch break from 2:00-4:00 everyday, so we tried to plan to arrive as close to 4:00 PM as possible. We ended up arriving at about 3:30, but we thought, no problem, because even though their shop was closed when we arrived, we knew that they lived right behind their shop, so we just walked around to the entrance to their home. Unfortunately the gate we had to go through to get to their front door, and that also lead to the stairs to get to their neighbours' apartments, was locked. Last time we had been there, though, they had shown us which doorbell to ring, so that if we ever came while their shop was closed, we could come back to the apartment building they live in, and ring the doorbell to the flat where their daughter and parents lived and they would come downstairs and let us in the gate. The problem was that there are like 25 doorbells for the different apartments, and we were not 100% sure which one they had told us to ring. So I tried a couple that I thought were right, but no one came. While we were trying to decide what we were going to do, one of the neighbour boys arrived home from school and unlocked the gate and he let us in. So now were standing right outside the door to our friends' home, great! I rang their doorbell, which I knew was a flashing light doorbell, but no one came. Now we were stuck right outside their apartment with no way of leaving, because the neighbour boy who had let us in had also locked the gate back behind us, so we could not get out
again.
Locked in
The only way to leave was through our friends' apartment, if we could ever get them to come answer their door, or if another neighbour happened to come along and unlock the gate and let us out. So since no one else seemed to be coming along, and since our friends' flashing light doorbell did not seem to be working, we started pounding on their door in hopes that they would be able feel the vibrations and come let us in.
Pounding on their door
After several minutes of pounding and waiting, they did finally come to the door and let us in. We enjoyed visiting with our friends in the few minutes left of their lunch break. Then we went with them into their shop when their lunch break ended.
Finally made it in!
They were very busy that day with lots of customers coming to pick out nice material to have made into beautiful outfits for the upcoming New Years Holiday that will be celebrated here next Thursday, April 14th. We enjoyed spending time with our friends and watching them work, and then we left, a much easier task than our getting there had been, with promises to return the following week to visit again.
